Nancy Barba is an architect and preservationist with over 40 years of experience. Her work focuses on contextual design and sustainable solutions for historic and existing properties. In addition to her extensive experience in architectural design, Nancy is a specialist in preservation planning and actively contributes her time and skills to non-profit organizations.
Nancy has served on the board for the following organizations: Association for Preservation Technology, Northeast Chapter, the City of Portland Historic Preservation Board, Maine Preservation, Maine Olmsted Alliance of Parks and Landscapes, Episcopal Diocese of Maine, and AIA Design Awards Committee.
Nancy acted as Principal-In-Charge for the following award-winning historic preservation projects: Broad Bay UCC Church, Harriet Beecher Stowe House, Acadia National Park’s Rockefeller Hall, and Winslow Homer Studio. Nancy Barba was also awarded the Preservation Champion award by Maine Preservation in 2006.
Nancy is a writer of creative non-fiction and personal essays, a photographer, and has sailed her entire life. She has a particular affinity for classic wooden sailboats, and though she claims to love it, spends far too much time varnishing.
